At Tynemouth Surf Co Surf School we provide surfing lessons to all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced. We include water safety as part of our lessons. We are a Surfing England Centre of Excellence.

Train to be a Surf Instructor

£300

This is the first step on your surf coaching journey, you will learn fundamental ‘how to coach’ and technical skills enabling you to safely deliver beginner surf lessons.

The course is a mix of theory delivered online or in workshops, followed with practical learning and mentoring on the beach. The course completes with a fully assessed lesson to sign off instructor competency.

16 to become a junior instructor (You can operate supervised by an adult surf instructor) 18 to become a surf instructor

I had a 1:1 Surf lesson with Nathan yesterday, it was absolutely amazing. The weather conditions weren’t particularly pleasant but he made it so enjoyable that it was hardly noticeable. I learnt so much yesterday, as he watched every wave that I either caught or missed, and told me after each one, what was needed to progress. He really motivated me, and completely boosted my confidence in surfing, so much so that I hope to return very soon for a second lesson! Thank you so much!
